[News] Students and researchers from China barred from working in the UK

A report has revealed that, in 2022, more than 1100 visa applicants from China, including 839 postgraduate students and 265 researchers who sought clearance to pursue study and research in the UK, were rejected by the UK’s Foreign Office via the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS). This is a sharp increase from previous rejection figures of 951 in 2021, 128 in 2020, and 13 in 2016.
