[News] Non-communicable diseases in humanitarian settings

Between Feb 27 and Feb 29, 2024, a global high-level technical meeting on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in humanitarian settings was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The meeting was hosted by WHO and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and several national governments. A side event on cancer was convened by WHO and King’s College London (London, UK). “People living with NCDs in humanitarian crises are more likely to see their condition worsen due to trauma, stress, or the inability to access medicines or services”, stated WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in remarks to the media.
