[News] NHS embraces AI-assisted radiotherapy technology

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is taking substantial steps towards enhancing radiotherapy treatments through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Following a meeting with representatives from the global radiotherapy industry in mid-June, the Secretariat of the UK All Party Parliamentary Group for Radiotherapy proposed a £4 million investment in AI software. Adoption of some of the AI radiotherapy systems already in use in other countries could, the report says, “immediately enhance workforce capacity and reduce [patient] waiting times”.
