We commend the study by Pieter H A Wisse and colleagues1 on advancing colorectal cancer screening with the multitarget faecal immunochemical test (mtFIT). Colorectal cancer screening is a crucial public health strategy, balancing the burden of the disease with the feasibility of acceptable screening modalities.2 This pivotal research shows mtFIT’s potential to greatly improve advanced neoplasm detection rates without sacrificing specificity, suggesting a promising avenue for efficiently reducing colorectal cancer incidence and mortality.
