[Perspectives] Ending financial discrimination for cancer survivors: embedding the Right to be Forgotten in legislation across Europe

Despite affecting one in every two people in their lifetime, cancer is no longer always terminal. Scientific advances and their implementation in clinical practice are underpinning substantial improvements in diagnosis and treatment, contributing to improved outcomes for patients with cancer. Across Europe, approximately 20 million people previously diagnosed with cancer are living cancer-free.1 5-year survival rates, the cancer community’s widely accepted benchmark of a cancer cure, are rising.
