On July 10, 2024, WHO held a special event, to present preliminary findings of a global literature review on the health of Indigenous Peoples, commissioned in 2023 by WHO to a team led by Indigenous researchers. The review aimed to identify key health outcomes where Indigenous Peoples experience inequities that are affected by social determinants of health, and evaluate the availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of health services received by Indigenous Peoples. Some of the preliminary results presented included the under-representation of Indigenous Peoples in academia and the need for more involvement of Indigenous people in research.
