Health authorities in South Africa have promised to respond to the demands of protesters calling for the use of funds allocated for cancer treatment. On April 30, 2024, patients with cancer, people who previously had cancer, and their families joined activists and advocacy groups in South Africa’s Gauteng province to protest against the government not using funds allocated for cancer treatment, which resulted in more than 3000 patients with cancer continuing to wait for life-saving and time-critical radiotherapy treatment.
