[Editorial] Cancer caught in the crossfire

Hamas terrorists unexpectedly invaded Israel on Oct 7, 2023, in a brutal attack massacring over a thousand Israeli citizens, mostly civilians, injuring thousands more, and abducting many Israeli soldiers and civilians. Israel, now at war, has retaliated to the attack with a wave of air strikes on Hamas military targets before the possible launch of a ground operation in Gaza. Additional shelling from Lebanon into Israel has prompted fears that war could spread throughout the region. Amidst the violence and increasing numbers of civilian deaths and casualties in Israel and Gaza, individuals with cancer face the harrowing prospect of losing access not just to life-saving treatment, but to any care at all.
