I attentively read the Policy Review published in The Lancet Oncology by May Elbanna and colleagues.1 The authors provide valuable information regarding the Latin American and Caribbean reality regarding access to radiation services by sourcing data through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Directory of Radiotherapy Centers database (DIRAC). The authors should be commended for also contacting country leads to corroborate information. The information gleaned from these efforts and an alignment analysis to pre-existing benchmarks was informative as it highlighted and quantified a growing need for radiotherapy for the region.
