[Editorial] Legacies of conflict and humanitarian crises on cancer care

July 31, 2024, marked another potential escalation of the Israel–Palestine conflict, with the assassination of the Hamas political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Iran. Despite global efforts to quell the ongoing conflict, civilians and civilian infrastructure are bearing the brunt of the devastation. Gaza, which has suffered the most casualties, has reported repeated attacks on civilians and infrastructure, with the targeting of health-care facilities and staff becoming commonplace amid claims of misuse of these facilities by Hamas.
