Artificial intelligence (AI) in the health care sector, and by extension in scientific research, has expanded in the past few years, not just in its revolutionary and virtually limitless applicability, but also from a financial perspective. The predicted annual growth rate of AI in the health-care market globally is 37·5% by 2030, by which point it will be worth US$208·2 billion.1 Specific to cancer care, the global AI market size is forecasted to have a compound annual growth rate of 28·92% from 2024 to 2030.
